People always ask me, "Who or what is Tuff Betty?"  Tuff Betty is based upon a Sesame Street character really named Tuff Eddie who bullied Ernie and Bert in an episode (1972, Episode 234. Ernie &Bert: at the beach - Ernie meets Tough Eddie, I was four.) and I misinterpreted the name Tuff Eddie as Tuff Betty. 

Also, my Dad rehabbed birds of prey; we had a really feisty kestrel who we named  Tuff Betty due to her spunky nature.  So a Tuff Betty is a blend of a chick who is terminally trendy yet doesn't cater to what the masses want and wear's whatever the hell she wants when she wants to wear it!
